Widget troubleshooting
Fixes for a missing chat bubble, blocked requests and limit messages.
The chat bubble doesn't appear
- Check the snippet is on the page. View the page source and search for
widget.js. - Check
data-site-idis set. Without it, the browser console shows[TalkToMySites] data-site-id is required. - Check you copied the full snippet, including
src="https://app.talktomysites.com/widget.js". - If your site has a Content Security Policy, allow
https://app.talktomysites.cominscript-srcandconnect-src. The widget also adds its own styles, sostyle-srcneeds'unsafe-inline', or the panel appears unstyled.
The bubble appears but questions fail
The widget only works on your site's Widget domain. If you added the site with one domain and the widget runs on another, requests are blocked. Open Edit site and set the widget domain to the domain in your browser's address bar, or use *.example.com to cover every subdomain. See Allowed domains.
The assistant can't answer a question I know is on my site
- Check the page is indexed. Open the Indexing card and look under Failed pages and Skipped pages.
- Check the page is in your sitemap. Pages that aren't listed aren't indexed.
- Check your plan's page limit. Pages past the limit aren't indexed.
- If you changed the page recently, click Re-crawl sitemap. See Keep answers up to date.
- Text inside navigation, the page header, footers, sidebars and forms is removed before indexing. Move important information into the main page content.
"Too many questions, please wait a minute and try again."
Each visitor can ask about 20 questions a minute on a site, and a site can take about 300 questions a minute across all visitors. The message clears after a minute.
"This assistant has reached its monthly question limit."
Your team has used all the questions included in its plan this month. The count resets on the 1st of each month (UTC). To raise the limit, upgrade under Billing. See Plans and limits.
